Interconnected heterogeneous entities, such as sensors and actuators, cloud resources, and mobile robotic units, with diverse sensing, movement, reasoning, and communication capabilities, are becoming an essential part of our societal lives. As such they will support and facilitate human activities in many contexts. For successful deployment of autonomous and adaptive networked systems in society, novel methods to design and implement cooperation among individual entities are required. Provided that the right cooperation patterns are developed, the networked devices will have the potential to perform tasks that go beyond their individual capabilities. NAS lab team aims to develop sound techniques that enable automatic cooperation through active communication.
