CT&T Research Group Director Professor Uysal was awarded Ozyegin University Best Researcher Award. Prof Uysal received his award during the graduation ceremony which took place on June 29, 2014.
CT&T Research Group Director Professor Uysal delivered a plenary speech at the International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON). In his talk, Prof Uysal presented an overview of the state-of-the-art in the emerging area of optical wireless communications and discussed related opportunities, challenges and possible solutions.
Since 1999, ICTON has been organized as an annual international conference and provides a forum for scientists and engineers from all over the world to present their new research results and share ideas and experiences in the field of optical communications and networking. This year, ICTON Conference was locally organized by the University of Graz and held on July 6 to 10, 2014. The conference consists of plenary talks, panel discussions, invited sessions, oral sessions, and poster sessions for academic exchanges.

In his talk, Prof Uysal presented an overview of the state-of-the-art in the emerging area of optical wireless communications and discussed related opportunities, challenges and possible solutions.
The IEEE BlackSeaCom series of conferences are held in the countries surrounding the Black Sea. The goal of the IEEE BlackSeaCom is to bring together visionaries in academia, research labs and industry from all over the world to the shores of the Black Sea. This year, BlackSeaCom Conference was locally organized by the Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova and held on May 27-30, 2014. The conference consists of panel discussions, invited sessions, oral sessions, and poster sessions for academic exchanges.
As of November 29, CT&T Group Director Prof. Uysal was appointed as the Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Congratulations!
Former CT&T group members, Mohammadreza A. Kashani and Hamza U. Sokun, were admitted to PhD programmes at Pennsylvania State University (USA) and Carleton University (Canada) with full scholarships. Mohammadreza will pursue PhD under the supervision of Prof Mohsen Kavehrad in the area of free-space optical communication. Hamza will work with Prof Halim Yanikomeroglu and investigate beyond 4G wireless technologies as his PhD topic. Congratulations to Mohammadreza and Hamza!
The first graduate students in engineering were awarded their diplomas by our Rector Prof. Erhan Erkut and Dean of Engineering Prof. Reha Civanlar during a commencement ceremony held on July 19. CT&T group member Mohammadreza A. Kashani ranked first in the MSc program and was honoured to give a speech at the ceremony. Congratulations Mohammadreza!
