İbrahim Hakkı Acar, Ph.D.

Prof.Dr. İbrahim Hakkı Acar obtained his B.A. from the Trakya University, Department of Elementary Teaching in 2010, M.S. as a Fulbright Scholar in Child, Youth and Family Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln 2013, and Ph.D. in Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016. After completing his Ph.D., Prof.Dr. Acar worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a year. Prof.Dr. Acar’s research areas are protective factors (regulatory temperament, executive functioning) and risk factors (difficult temperament, poverty) for children’s social and academic development. In addition, children’s access to nature and outdoors and its contribution to their prosocial behavior and environmental moral reasoning.

Research Areas: Socioemotional development of children, adult-child relationships, the influences of individual differences (temperament) on children’s social and academic development, nature and outdoor activities in early childhood.

Her areas of interest in research include self-regulation skills in early childhood, parent-child interaction, teacher-child interaction, and social-emotional development.
